She was a faithful friend- an unofficial member of the family: my "sister", our pet. For over 16 years her smile and wagging tail greeted us at the door.
Her love and companionship were tried, tested she remained until the end: "True Blue."
As the watcher/keeper of our family her duties were never left unattended; she did not take vacations and took her protector's job very seriously.
Sadly, her health declined and it was time to say "goodbye"- then another couple of years passed and our experiences with her finally came to an end.
Your friendship, loyalty, and service will be missed,

Oh no! Sorry about (I'm assuming this) your parents and your dog. However, this line cracked me up:

Yes, we keep animals alive for WAY too long on occasion.
